The release of Lightning Roulette by Evolution was a paradigm shift in how people play and enjoy live casino roulette. It remains one of the most popular and influential games in the live casino space to date. Still beloved by thousands, the multiplier-based live roulette variant is a mainstay at top live casinos. Now, in 2022, it will also receive a sequel of sorts.
XXX Treme Lightning Roulette, or more reasonably Extreme Lightning Roulette, is a more volatile and risky version of Lightning Roulette. As a quick disclaimer, this game is not available to the general public yet. Evolution announced it as part of the packed release schedule in 2022. However, it’s one of the most highly anticipated titles in live casinos. As such, we decided to compile what we know so far as a sort of XXX Treme Lightning Roulette preview. However, keep in mind that anything mentioned in this review can potentially be changed in the future. We’ll update this XXX Treme Lightning Roulette review as more information becomes available.
At first glance, the game appears even more TV-like and spectacular than the original. The electric studio set retains much of the glitz and glow, including the fan-favorite lightning lever. However, everything now has a sort of bright red tinge to it, indicating its dangerous and volatile nature.
But what is so Extreme about XXXTreme Lightning Roulette by Evolution, you may ask? In short, the original multiplier features have been turned up to 11. Multipliers can now go up to 1,000 with up to 10 numbers per round. How does that work, though? Let’s find out!
Before we get into the game’s distinguishing features, let’s cover the core gameplay. Once you strip off the big multipliers and lightning strikes, XXXTreme Lightning Roulette is still just a game of live roulette at heart. There are RNG elements in there, but those are reserved for the special features. The outcome and bets of this game are decided by a simple, classic European-style roulette wheel.
To play XXXTreme Lightning Roulette, simply use the chips on the interface to set your stake. The minimum bet in this game is surprisingly low at just $0.20, which is one advantage of playing roulette. Once you determine how much you want to bet, click on one of the available wagers on the betting table in the middle of the screen. As noted above, the bets are nothing you won’t see in any other roulette game in the world. The full range of both inside and outside roulette bets is available. However, only Straight Up bets can take advantage of the multipliers. More on that later.
Sector, Call, and Neighbors bets are also available. These consist of multiple standard bets, some of which may be Straight Up wagers. The Straight Up components of bets like Voisins du Zero can indeed trigger multipliers. The same is true for Full Complete bets, which consist of a combination of multiple Straight-up bets.
Evolution XXXTreme Lightning Roulette uses a standard European roulette wheel. This means it only has one zero, which is generally better than American roulette. Most Inside and Outside bets have the same payouts as any other live casino roulette game.
The only major difference is that Straight Up bets in XXXTreme Lightning Roulette pay 19:1. That’s a serious drop from the industry-standard 35:1, and a big one from the original game’s 29:1. However, with multipliers, this can be increased to a whopping 2,000x! More numbers are multiplied per round, too.

Since most bets have the industry-standard payout structure, XXXTreme Lightning Roulette RTP is 97.30% for all bets except Straight Up.
Thanks to the whole multiplier system, Straight Up bets in XXXTreme Lightning Roulette offer 97.10%. A higher house edge is usually the result of increased volatility, so no surprises there. That said, we’re glad to see that the difference is not big enough to turn potential players away.

Roulette games with multipliers are becoming a live dealer casino mainstay. Most major software providers already have a game or two in this particular “genre”. However, few have tried to push the envelope the way the XXXTreme Lightning Roulette casino game does. The only one that comes to mind is Authentic Gaming’s XL Roulette. Based on average returns, this title reminds us of the highest-volatility setting – XXL.
So how does XXXTreme Lightning Roulette work? Well, it starts out as the original Lightning Roulette game. After the betting period is over, between one and five random numbers are hit with Lightning Multipliers. Straight Up bets on those numbers receive an increased payout, which can be 50x, 100x, 150x, 200x, 300x, 350x, 400x, or 500x.
This is where the Chain Lightning feature in XXXTreme Lightning Roulette kicks in. In addition to the first multipliers, up to 9 numbers are hit with even more multipliers! Importantly, you can never see more than 10 Lightning Numbers at the same moment. However, there will always be at least one from the initial Lightning Round and one from the Chain Lightning round.
That’s just the start, though. Marking more numbers to be multiplied is step number one. After that, a third round of multipliers may hit any of the previously multiplied numbers. It’s called Double Strikes and can increase the already boosted numbers even further. Double Strikes in XXXTreme Lightning Roulette can push the payout of a number up to between 600x and 2,000x!
Extreme Lightning Roulette has not been fully launched yet, so we cannot give a complete verdict of the product. However, you can expect a full XXXTreme Lightning Roulette review as soon as we get the full picture. Until then, you can brush up on your Lightning Roulette strategy.
For now, though, the whole thing seems very promising. We’re not surprised – Evolution can’t afford to drop the ball on their flagship product, and they do have a peerless reputation. The substantial increase in volatility can open up some interesting options for XXXTreme Lightning Roulette strategy, though.
Make no mistake, though – if you decide to play XXXTreme Lightning Roulette for real money, you’ll feel the volatility. Be prepared for playing rounds and rounds at a net loss before a huge win strikes. That’s the kind of excitement Evolution was going for, but not everyone will enjoy it.
