Pragmatic Play’s Super 8 Baccarat game is one of the latest additions to their comprehensive baccarat portfolio. Although it’s not hugely innovative, it still bears all the quality we’ve come to expect from this software provider. Specifically, the modern UI and top-notch stream are up there with the best the industry has to offer.

That said, don’t expect this game to be some innovative experience. The name – Super 8 Baccarat – merely refers to one of the several available side bets. In fact, everything else in the game works exactly like on any other baccarat table with a 5% commission on Banker bets. This makes the game quite similar to Fortune 6 Baccarat, another Pragmatic release from 2022.

You may be wondering whether a single side bet is really worth all the fuss of releasing a new game. And you’re probably right – they could have just stuck all of these side bets onto one side-betting mega table. As it stands, most Pragmatic Play live baccarat games look very similar, with only slight variations in side bets.

No matter how you look at it, though, the Super 8 Baccarat game is a well-made game. If the Super 8 side bet looks interesting to you, you might want to check this table out. We’ll explain how the Super 8 side bet in baccarat works as part of this review.

How to Play Super 8 Baccarat

If you’re already familiar with the basic rules of baccarat, you already know how to play Super 8 Baccarat. We’ll still give a short overview of how the game works, just in case.

The objective of baccarat is simple. The dealer will place 2 cards onto 2 card piles each – the Player and Banker. Your goal is to accurately predict which of these two hands will have a total score closer to 9. If you guess correctly, you win a 1:1 payout.

There are some things to keep in mind, though. Only the last digit of any score total counts. So, for example, a score of 14 is actually a 4.

Furthermore, all cards with a value of 10 or more count as 10 – which is to say 0.

Importantly, a third card can be given to one or both of these two hands. That depends on the score of the first two cards and how they compare to each other. You can read our guide to the third card rule in baccarat for more info.

Due to the way the third card rule works, Banker bets have a slight advantage. That’s why a 5% commission is charged on all Banker bets.

To play Super 8 Baccarat live, just open the game and use the interface to place bets. Click on the chips to determine the size of your stake, and then click on the bet you want to make. Besides Player and Banker, you can bet on a tie (though we don’t ever recommend it.) You can also choose between 7 side betting options.

Live Casinos Best Tips for Super 8 Baccarat
  • 1
According to the official game data, Player Red/Black is better than Banker Red/Black.
  • 2
Most of the side-betting options in Super 8 Baccarat are surprisingly decent. Ironically, the titular Super 8 bet is the worst one.
  • 3
The Super Pair bet is interesting because it doesn’t work like the typical Pairs bet in Baccarat. Consequently, it has the highest RTP of all the side bets in Super 8 Baccarat.

Payouts

The payouts for the main game are predictably standard – even money for Player and Banker, minus the 5% commission on Banker wins. Ties pay the usual 8:1 as well.

That leaves the side bets as the most interesting part of the Super 8 Baccarat paytable. Check out the full table if you want to know how much each bet can win.

Bet/Outcome Payout RTP
Main Bets
Player 1:1 98.76%
Banker 0.95:1 97.94%
Tie 8:1 85.94%
Player/Banker Super Pair Side Bet
Pair 10:1 96.35%
Pair of 4s 20:1 96.35%
Pair of Diamonds 30:1 96.35%
Pair of Diamond 4s 40:1 96.35%
Player Red/Black Side Bet
2 cards of the same color 2:1 96.54%
3 cards of the same color 4:1 96.54%
3 cards of the same suit 10:1 96.54%
Banker Red/Black Side Bet
2 cards of the same color 2:1 96.25%
3 cards of the same color 4:1 96.25%
3 cards of the same suit 12:1 96.25%
Super 8 Side Bet
Player or Banker Natural Win 4:1 95.45%
Tie with two Natural 8 6:1 95.45%
Player or Banker Natural Loss 6:1 95.45%

As you can see, we’ve also included the RTP value for all types of bets.

The optimal Super 8 Baccarat strategy is to just play the Banker bet over and over again. It’s not fun, but it gets the job done. If you want something more exciting, though, all of the side bets are viable options and are worth incorporating into your strategy.

Special Features

Like any good baccarat game, Super 8 Baccarat features multiple roadmaps to the left and right of the player. These are used to track results, and they note any patterns and hot/cold numbers. Following roadmaps is not really a viable Super 8 baccarat strategy, though. Simply put, the results of previous rounds cannot change the outcome of future rounds. However, if you prefer listening to roadmaps to just randomly guessing, you can read more about them here.

Side Bets

The side bets in Super 8 Baccarat are the game’s main selling points. Let’s take a look at how they work.

  • Player Banker Super Pairs – this side bet predicts that either the Player or Banker hand will have a pair – two cards of the same value. Only the first two cards count for this side bet. However, Super Pairs changes things compared to classic baccarat Perfect Pairs. It offers huge payouts if you get a pair of Diamonds, a pair of 4s, or a pair of Diamond 4s.
  • Player/Banker Red/Black – Offers moderate wins if two or more cards in the relevant hand are of the correct color. For example, a Player Red bet wins if two or more of the Player cards are red. You get a better payout if a third card is drawn and it’s also red. Moreover, if all 3 cards are also of the same suit, you win even more.
  • Super 8 – The titular side bet wins if a Natural win occurs. A Natural hand is when either Player or Banker draws a total of 8 or 9 without drawing the third card. Super 8 pays more if the result is a tie with two Naturals, or if one side gets a Natural and still loses.

Languages

  • As far as we can tell, Super 8 Baccarat by Pragmatic Play is presented exclusively in English. This software provider famously caters to many markets across the globe, though, so other options may become available in the future.
  • For now, you can simply change the language of the UI text in the game. Language options include Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Danish, English, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Suomi, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

Our Verdict of Super 8 Baccarat

Super 8 Baccarat is another all-around good baccarat game that’s hard to really get excited about. The side bets are kind of unique if we compare them to the competition, but that’s pretty much it.

Essentially, fans of Pragmatic Play games have to decide whether to pick this variant of Fortune 6. Both are almost identical, but both contain a long list of unique side bets. We suggest reading our reviews for both games and deciding for yourself.

Overall, Super 8 Baccarat has solid RTP with a large win potential on some side bets. However, Fortune 6 side bets are overall better in terms of RTP but lack the creativity and win potential of Super 8.

Looks like another good release from Pragmatic Play, though it might fly under the radar for all but the most devoted of Baccarat fans.

FAQ

Super 8 Baccarat is a live casino variant of baccarat made by Pragmatic Play. It follows the standard rules of playing baccarat at a casino, including a 5% commission on all Banker bets. However, Super 8 Baccarat boasts an interesting set of side bets not found anywhere else.
Banker bets are always slightly more likely to win than Player bets. The reason for this is in the Third Card rules – Player sometimes draws the third card even if it’s not the most favorable option, while Banker only draws if it’s already about to lose. However, rather than change the even money structure of the main bets, the commission balanced these bets out.
The Super Pairs bet is easily the strongest of the three – especially when betting on a Player Super Pair. Red/Black is also a worthwhile option. However, Super 8 is fairly volatile and has a somewhat bigger house edge, so you should be careful.
The house edge varies depending on the bet. Player and Banker bets have a house edge of 1.24% and 1.06%, respectively. The 6 side bets almost all have different house edges – check out the paytable above for more info.
