Playtech kicked off 2023 with a lot of new releases. One of the highlights is this attempt to introduce a bonus round into live casino blackjack. While not the first time Playtech played around with the idea, Mega Fire Blaze Blackjack is certainly the most interesting as far as this provider is concerned. Our review will go into detail about how Mega Fire Blaze Blackjack works and whether it’s worth your time.

Introducing multipliers and game show visuals to roulette has revolutionized live casino games. Playtech realized this idea quite early, resulting in a multitude of games such as Quantum Roulette, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Roulette, and most recently Jet Set Racing Roulette. Now, it seems, the industry turns its attention to blackjack.
Mega Fire Blaze Blackjack introduces a volatile bonus round to a one-to-many blackjack table, turning it into a much more exciting game. This company already did something similar with 2020’s Quantum Blackjack. However, this new variant takes a different approach. The multipliers are an optional side bet, basically, and can be completely ignored if you like classic blackjack rules. Also, the bonus round is somewhat ‘separate’ from the main action. We’ll explain further down.
Nominally, the game is based on Mega Fire Blaze Roulette. This little roulette wheel was one of Playtech’s most innovative ideas which took the idea of multipliers much further than its competition. The blackjack variant does the same in some ways, resulting in a highly volatile experience. Volatility and blackjack rarely go together, though, because blackjack players are usually more tactful and strategic. As such, this title may appeal more to fans of live casino game shows.
We’ll leave you to decide if any of this sounds interesting, though. For now, let’s just dive into the rules.
The base Mega Fire Blaze Blackjack game consists of two hands with a one-to-many setup. This means that an unlimited number of players can join and play at the same time. All of the cards are shared between players. However, your decisions are separate from everyone else’s. Basically, you can decide whether to Hit, Stand, Double, or Split regardless of what other people do.
Both hands work this way, but they are technically identical. You can choose to play both or either – it doesn’t really matter. The base game uses fairly standard Vegas-style rules. This means the dealer always stands on a soft 17 or above. You can double after a split, but you can’t re-split. Insurance is also an option in case of a dealer Ace, but it’s as bad as always.
The Mega Fire Blaze Bonus sets this game apart from standard Playtech blackjack, so it’s quite important. It can also seem complicated at first, but it really isn’t.
First of all, you have to qualify for the bonus. Only players who place the bet will take part in the bonus round if it triggers. The bonus payouts depend on the size of the stake you use for the bonus bet. The bets you used for the main blackjack bet are irrelevant. However, only players who have a main bet can place a bonus bet and participate in the round.
Now, deciding whether the bonus round kicks off or not comes down to a system of points. If certain conditions are met, points are awarded which decide whether the bonus round plays or not.
The more points you collect, the bigger the eventual bonus prize.
Playtech calls these conditions Achievements. Here is how you can win Achievement points in Mega Fire Blaze Blackjack.
A higher achievement point score allows you to get higher bonuses. These are divided into levels – Minor, Mini, Major, Grand, and Mega. Basically, the higher the bonus level, the bigger the multiplier potential.
Once the actual round kicks off, all players with a Bonus bet participate. It looks and works like a small slot game. The grid always has 3 rows, but the number of ‘reels’ or segments depends on the bonus level, ranging from 1 to 6.
The bonus round has three “spins” during which multipliers may randomly drop to one of the positions on the segments. If a multiplier sticks to a position, it stays there and the number of spins resets to 3. This goes on until three spins happen with no multipliers sticking or the entire board is filled.
If all three positions in a segment are filled, an extra multiplier appears on top of it. It increases the multipliers on that segment, boosting the final payout. Also, an entire segment can randomly receive a Star multiplier up to 100x, but only on higher bonus levels.
The table below explains all the details. This includes the number of achievement points required, the maximum multiplier range, and the individual multiplier ranges for everything we just explained.
Bonus Level | Points Required | Maximum Multiplier | Number of Segments | Slot Multipliers | Segment Multipliers | Star Multipliers |
Minor | 5 | 24x | 1 | 1x, 2x | 2x | None |
Mini | 10 | 120x | 2 | 1x, 2x, 5x | 2x | 10x, 20x |
Major | 15 | 400x | 3 | 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x | 2x, 3x | 10x, 20x, 50x |
Grand | 20 | 700x | 4 | 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x | 2x, 3x | 10x, 20x, 50x, 100x |
Mega | 25 | 1,000x | 6 | 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x | 2x, 3x | 10x, 20x, 50x, 100x |
The main bet, side bets, and insurance in this game are industry-standard. No surprises there.
The bonus bet, however, can push the payouts to a maximum of 1,000x. This maximum depends on the bonus level, as described above.

Mega Fire Blaze Blackjack RTP is different for every type of bet you can make. The main hand is very good, being above average even by blackjack standards (which are the highest of any casino game.) The bonus bet, however, is a different story.
The bonus bet is weak for blackjack standards. However, it’s still better than almost every other casino game out there. As such, it’s still a decent idea to play it if you remember that it has a fairly low chance of triggering

We explained how Mega Fire Blaze Blackjack works, but we almost forgot about the side bets. The bonus bet can technically count as a side bet, but it’s much more integral to the game as a whole. Still, it’s worth mentioning that there are two additional wagering options
These two are probably the most common side bets in blackjack, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble figuring them out.
Unfortunately, the game does not feature result tracking or built-in statistics. This would have been handy info for some players.
However, the help section is quite comprehensive, as are the settings. All of these, and more, can be found in the right side panel.
