Travel Fever Live is the first attempt at making live casino game shows by OnAir Entertainment. Such a move is far from unexpected – this style of entertainment-focused games has been rapidly growing in popularity for years. However, this also means that the game is set to face some very tough competition from arguably bigger software providers with more experience in making such titles. Game shows are very tough to create and maintain, too. Compared to standard fare like roulette or baccarat, the studios and graphics are much more complex (and typically visually impressive.) Designing a good game show is no easy feat either because there are no “standard” models or rulesets to use as a starting point.

OnAir Travel Fever hits the mark in terms of production value. The studio and presenters have all the bells and whistles players have come to expect from game shows in live casinos. This includes multiple cameras, AR graphics, and a unique studio purpose-built for this specific game. That said, some may find that it all looks a bit too childish for a gambling game. In some ways, the looks of the game remind us of Pragmatic Play’s Sweet Bonanza Candyland or even the more recent Treasure Island.

Of course, OnAir’s take on the genre stands out in a few ways too. For starters, the gameplay is based on 6 bonus bets and main bets that work a bit differently than you may be used to with money wheel games. Of course, the wheel is also horizontal, but that’s strictly a visual difference.

How to Play Travel Fever Live

The basic premise of Travel Fever is similar to most other betting games that rely on money wheels.

To start, you use the interface to place bets by placing chips on one or more of the available betting positions. The presenter then spins the wheel, and the outcome of the round is determined by the segment of the wheel that lands on the pointer.

The wheel itself consists of 54 segments. These include:

  • 42 Bonus Round Segments – Golden Spin, Happy Race, Flying Dice, Train Rush, Lucky Hike and Ship Hunt. Each of these appears on exactly 7 segments.
  • Six 1x Multiplier Segments
  • Six 9x Multiplier Segments

Additionally, the wheel contains a second, inner circle. This circle is divided into 6 parts, each covering 7 segments. All 6 parts of this second wheel correspond to a continent. Moreover, each of these continents is further divided into 5x multipliers, one 1x multiplier and one 9x multiplier.

All of this sounds a bit complicated at first glance, and it sometimes can be. Let’s break all of this down into its basic elements to help you understand how Travel Fever works.

Travel Fever Live Results

Every round of Travel Fever has several possible outcomes, depending on the bet(s) you’ve placed.

  • If the pointer lands on a bonus round, the bonus round in question kicks off immediately. all players with active bets on that specific bonus participate, while everyone else waits for the next game round.
  • If the pointer lands on a 1x or 9x multiplier, all players who placed a wager on any bonus bet receive a payout based on the multiplier. The 1x multiplier simply returns your stake to you, while the 9x multiplier pays 9 times your stake (obviously)
  • The winning segment also belongs to one of the 6 continents. If you placed a Continent bet, you win if the winning segment belongs to the corresponding continent. The payout of continent bets depend on the multiplier the pointer lands on. It can be 1x, 5x, or 9x.

Travel Fever Bonus Bets

Beyond everything we talked about, most of the rules of Travel Fever come down to its six bonus bets. We’ll now go through them one by one, explaining how they work.

Golden Spin

This bonus round is represented by a bycicle symbol. Essentially, it’s a little slot machine based on the 9 Pots of Gold slot game by Red Tiger Gaming.

The round kicks off by determining how many spins you get in. This is decided by a small wheel with different spin numbers. An arrow spins and lands on a part of the wheel. You can get anywhere between 5 and 10 spins.

The slot game itself will be familiar for anyone with experience in playing online slot machines. It features 5 reels, 3 rows, and 25 paylines. It also has bonus features that can multiply your winnings, grant additional spins, and so on. There’s also a special bonus round dubbed Pots of Money.

We could write a full review of the slot itself, but it won’t really matter for most players. The round is completely determined by RNG, so it’s not like you can improve your winnings anyway. If you trigger this round, just sit back and hope for the best. You can win up to 2000x via the Golden Spin, which means it has the highest winning potential of all bonus rounds in Travel Fever.

Flying Dice

The Flying Dice bonus round in Travel Fever is represented by an aeronplane. It’s also the only bonus round in the game that relies on physical dice instead of computer-generated RNG.

Once the round kicks off, all participating players pick between red, blue, or orange dice. The presenter then drops three sets of three dice each down a sort of Bagatelle board with obstacles. The dice bounce around and display the result at the bottom.

The payout you receive is determined by the results shown by the dice you chose. The goal here is to get pairs, or ideally triples.

  • No pairs pay 1x
  • A pair pays 5x
  • A triple result pays 20x

The presenter also drops an additional black die. Instead of standard pips, this black die has three sides of 1x, two sides of 3x, and a single 5x side. The resulting multiplier is applied to all payouts for all participating players.

Train Rush

This round is centered around a virtual train and six destinations. At the start, all participating players pick one of these destinations. You can’t pick the one the train is already on.

Each of these destinations is then assigned a multiplier, ranging from 5x to 100x. If you pick a destination and the train ends up in it, you win the multiplier. If not, you win a 1x consolation prize.

The outcome of this round is also determined by dice. However, there’s only one die with six colored sides. Each color represents one of the destinations, and the train moves to the destination with the corresponding color. If the dice shows the train’s current destination, it’s rolled again.

Lucky Hike

The Lucky Hike bonus game is played on a sort of compass, which is divided into 12 segments. The compass spins and reveals two outcomes – a blue result and a red result.

At the beginning of the round, you get to pick whether you want to use the red or the blue pointer. Then, all 12 segments are assigned random multipliers – 1x, 1x, 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x, 12x, 14x, 17x and 21x. You win the multiplier that your selected pointer lands on.

That’s pretty much all there is to it. The 12 segments again correspond to 12 different destinations – Desert, Park, City, Waterfall, Port, Forest, River, Countryside, Bus Station, Volcano, Campsite and Canyon.

Ship Hunt

The next special round was inspired by the popular board game Battleships.

Basically, you’re presented with a 4×4 grid of hidden tiles. Various ships and/or blank spaces are distributed among these tiles. Your job is to pick three of them, hopefully hitting ships that will increase your reward.

One ship has a 9x multiplier, three have 5.5x multipliers, four have 2x multipliers, six have 1x multipliers, and there are two blank spots. All three of your picks are added together and paid out based on the stake you used for the bonus bet.

Happy Race

The Happy Race is arguably the most complex of the Travel Fever bonuses, featuring increased interactivity.

The mini-game has you following a race between 6 cars. Your job is to pick between two options – whether the cars will turn left or right. This is again determined using a small wheel with 4 segments – two for Right and two for Left.

At the start of the round, a multiplier is randomly selected based on a small bonus wheel. That’s the amount you win for each successful prediction. If you get the turn right, you progress to the next one, meaning you can win the multiplier up to 6 times. If you get it wrong, the round ends for you.

On top of that, the presenter also spins a special bonus wheel every time you make a decision. It contains 6 segments and 3 types of bonuses – each bonus appears on the wheel twice.

  • Extra Chance allows you to keep playing after you pick the wrong direction. It basically grants you an extra “life”. If the bonus wheel hits this segment, multipliers can range from 1x to 60x. This means that a single correct prediction will net you 1x while getting all 6 correctly wins 60x.
  • Cash Out allows you to collect your winnings and cash out on any step after the first one. The payouts for this are 1x, 14x, 26x, 53x, 100x, 210x, and 420x.
  • Checkpoint means that your winnings are secure after levels 2 and 4. The round payouts are 1x, 15x, 15x, 50x, 50x and 100x.

Continent Collect Bet

The Continent bets in the Travel Fever casino game have an additional, special option. It’s called the Continent Collect, and it’s unique because it affects multiple rounds of the game.

This wager predicts that all six continents will hit in the next six rounds of the game. In other words, you win if you get 6 different results for Continent bets in a row. If any continent hits twice in the next six spins, the bet automatically loses.

Continent Collect pays 63x for a win and offers an impressive RTP rate of 97.26%.

Strategy Tips for Travel Fever Live
  • 1
THe differences between RTP values for different bonus bets are largely negligible. However, Happy Race, Golden Spin, and Flying Dice stand out as the best picks.
  • 2
Speaking of which, the Cash Out variant of the Happy Race is by far the best one with 97.83% RTP. Unfortunately, you can't really control which of the three options will play.
  • 3
The Continent Collect is also a surprisingly efficient option in terms of house edge. However, it's still a very risky wager, so we don't recommend it for beginners.

Payouts & RTP

Almost every bet in this game has its own math model and calculates wins differently. You can refer to our gameplay guide for Travel Fever by OnAir above to see how things work. However, we’ve also compiled all of that data below.

The paytable contains all possible Travel Fever results and payouts. Pretty much all of the betting options also have their own separate RTP, so we’ve included that as well.

To reiterate, all bonus bets appear on exactly 7 segments, meaning they have a 12.96% chance to win in every round. Every continent also covers 9 segments, which means continent bets have a 16.66% probability of success.

Additionally, the Happy Race bonus round has three variants, depending on which segment the bonus wheel lands on. The Travel Fever paytable below includes all three of these variants.

Bet Payout RTP
Main Game Bets
Flying Dice 1x to 100x 96.62%
Lucky Hike 1x to 21x 96.14%
Train Rush 1x to 100x 96.36%
Ship Hunt 1x to 20x 96.01%
Golden Spin 1x to 2,000x 96.69%
Happy Race 1x to 420x 97.09%
Happy Race Bonus Round
Extra Chance 1 x to 60x 96.82%
Cash Out 1x to 100x 97.83%
Checkpoint 1x to 420x 96.61%
Continent Bets
Single Continent 1x, 5x, or 9x 96.30%
Continent Collect 63x 97.26%

OnAir Entertainment Travel Fever offers between 96.14% and 97.83% RTP, depending on the bet in question. Refer to the table above for complete data about all RTP values in the game.

Interestingly, our testing found that this particular game show isn’t very volatile – especially when compared to other game shows. In fact, you can easily win in pretty much every round. However, wins will be severely limited, and simple pushes are a very common occurrence.

Our Verdict

Near the beginning of this Travel Fever casino game review, we mentioned that it reminded us of Pragmatic Play’s Treasure Island. After some thorough testing and a decent amount of time with the game, we realize that we were more accurate than we thought. Both games have a lot of the same advantages, but also a lot of the same issues.

Let’s start with the good. OnAir Entertainment did a great job from a technical standpoint, and the visuals are also up to a high standard. Everything runs smoothly, works well, and is easy to use and enjoy. Moreover, the ‘entertainment’ side of game shows hits the nail on the head, with engaging presenters and a generally fun and light-hearted atmosphere.

The big issue is that the game completely relies on ‘bonus rounds’ that don’t feel like bonuses at all. In mega-successful game shows like Crazy Time, the bonus round is a rare occurrence that generally leads to big wins and a lot of excitement. In Travel Fever, bonus rounds happen pretty much every round. More often than not, the payout is somewhere between 1x and 3x, which can get very discouraging very quickly. What’s the point of calling it a bonus round if the most likely outcome is that you’ll just get your stake back? The extra systems and minigames slow the pace of the game down to a crawl and can kill the players’ sense of excitement.

Moreover, some of the bonus rounds feel a bit lazy. For instance, the Golden Bet just rips off a popular slot game wholesale and shoehorns it into a supposedly live game.

We don’t want to sound too negative, though. OnAir Entertainment displays a lot of skill in bringing their ideas to life. However, the ideas themselves could use a little work. In this case, the problem is the planning, not the execution.

All in all, the Travel Fever casino game is a unique addition to OnAir Entertainment casino sites. However, it’s hard to recommend it in light of better options.
