Live casino software provider ICONIC21 is back again with another take on the classic game of blackjack. This time around, they’ve decided to make it a bit less “classic” by introducing a new feature. The Take Deal option offers scaling payouts that you can take before the round is resolved.

If you’ve had the chance to play classic Live Blackjack or even their Gravity Blackjack tables, you’ll find this game to be similar in many ways. That’s a good thing, too – our previous reviews of ICONIC21 titles always praised the UI and strong overall production value. The same quality can be found in the Take Deal or Risk Blackjack game, right down to the studio and set design.

In fact, this version of blackjack uses the same one-to-many layout we saw in Gravity tables. This means multiple players can share the same hand and you won’t have to worry about available spots. As you would expect, the main difference is in the titular Take Deal feature.

If you want to know more about it and how Take Deal or Risk Blackjack works, the rest of this review will cover it in detail.

How to Play Take Deal or Risk Blackjack by ICONIC21

In most regards, this is a relatively standard live casino blackjack game. Of course, it’s a relatively complex game, so we won’t be covering every single rule and option in this review. If you’re completely new to this classic card game, check out our beginner’s guide. It will help you understand how the core gameplay works and some of the terms we’ll be using.

As mentioned previously, you don’t have to worry about available seats or tables. Just open up your favorite ICONIC21 casino (check out this page if you need some suggestions) and launch the game.

The one-to-many system means that all active players are essentially using the same card hand. However, your decisions are still your own. For example, if you decide to Stand, your turn ends immediately. Other players may continue to draw cards and play, but any cards drawn to the player’s hand after you click Stand won’t apply to you.

You can use the interface at the bottom of the screen to select the size of your stake. Then, click on any betting position to make your wager.

As far as the rules of Live Take Deal or Risk Blackjack are concerned, here are the highlights:

  • The dealer must draw to 16 but stand on 17
  • Double is allowed on any total, and one card is drawn after doubling
  • Doubling after Splitting is allowed
  • Splitting Aces is allowed, but you only draw one card after. A score of 21 after a Split is not considered Blackjack
  • Cannot re-split
  • 10-card Charlie – if you draw 10 cards and don’t bust, you win automatically

Take Deal Feature

The defining Take Deal or Risk Blackjack feature is the titular option to Take Deal. But what does it do?

Generally, it works the same way as the Early Payout option we’ve seen on other blackjack tables.

The option becomes available in every round during the decision phase. The game essentially offers you an early payout. If you take it, the round ends immediately for you and you collect the offered amount to your balance.

The amount you can cash out this way depends on the current situation on the board. Any cards you already have in your hand are considered as well as the dealer’s up-card. Then, the offer is calculated based on your perceived chances of winning.

For example, if your hand is looking strong and likely to win, you’ll be offered a payout higher than the initial stake. However, it will still be smaller than the 1:1 payout for a full win. You can use this option to “lock down” a win and eliminate any risk.

On the other hand, if your hand looks weak, the offered payout will be smaller than your stake. You can cash out with a loss, which is still better than losing.

Side Bets

The blackjack side bets present in standard Live Blackjack are also available here. These include:

  • Player Pair – Wins if the first two cards you draw (hole cards) are of the same rank. Higher payouts are offered for pairs of the same color or suit.
  • 21+3 – Uses your first two cards and the dealer’s face-up card to make three-card poker hands. Stronger poker hands win more, but you need at least a Flush or better to win anything.
Strategy Tips
  • 1
The take deal feature can be used both to minimize risk and to soften losses. However, not that most blackjack charts don’t account for this option, so you’ll have to consider things carefully.
  • 2
You can use Take Deal as a sort of Early Surrender to avoid rounds that aren’t going your way. If the dealer is showing Ace or a 10-value card, consider taking the deal.
  • 3
Hands with a total value of 15 or 16 are the trickiest to get right. Always consider what the dealer is also showing.

Payouts & RTP

Besides the unique Take Deal feature, Take Deal or Risk Blackjack payouts are industry-standard. This means you win even money for a straight win or 3:2 for a natural blackjack. Insurance is always an option, too, paying the usual 2:1.

As explained above, the deals you are offered strictly depend on the specific situation you’re in. This can be anywhere from a full loss to a maximum of 2:1 (though you’re not likely ever to see the latter.)

Still, we’ve included a full list of all possible outcomes below.

Result Payout
Main Game
Win 1:1
Blackjack 3:2
Insurance 2:1
Player Pairs Side Bet
Mixed Pair 6:1
Colored Pair 12:1
Suited Pair 25:1
21+3 Side Bet
Suited Three of a Kind 100:1
Straight Flush 40:1
Three of a Kind 30:1
Straight 10:1
Flush 5:1

ICONIC21 Live Take Deal or Risk Blackjack RTP is 99.51%, which is slightly above average compared to most similar games. However, this figure assumes you’re using basic blackjack strategy for every move. Note that taking early payout deals can impact the game’s RTP, though to what extent depends on the situation.

Our Verdict

We enjoyed the Take Deal or Risk Blackjack live casino game for the same reason we enjoyed other ICONIC21 products. It takes a solid foundation of excellent core elements and expands it in new and interesting ways.

To make things clear, the Take Deal feature is purely optional. Even if you never choose to interact with it, this would still be an excellent live blackjack table. However, its addition gives you more options and more control over each round. Granted, we would recommend beginners to be careful with it because it interferes with established blackjack strategies. However, it pretty much has no downsides while still helping the game stand out from the crowd.

Take Deal or Risk Blackjack Live is another great showing from ICONIC21, and another great addition to their blackjack portfolio.
