K-Pop Roulette Live: Our Review, How and Where to Play!DISCLOSURE

Playtech by Playtech

K-Pop Roulette Live is a live casino roulette game released by Playtech in 2024. It attempts to make online roulette more accessible by re-designing how bets work, replacing standard roulette wagers with simpler alternatives and quicker gameplay. The game boasts 97.30% RTP, just like standard European roulette, and accepts bets ranging between $0.20 and $1,000. It’s available on both desktop and mobile on any casino with Playtech software.

Few casino game-makers dare to fiddle with tried and tested concepts such as roulette. Playtech, which already offers dozens of roulette tables with various additional features and elements, added another roulette variant whose goal is to be simpler and more attractive to wider audiences. This K-Pop Roulette review takes a detailed look into the results and how things panned out.

Roulette is inarguably the most popular table game in both online and land-based casinos. It’s beloved around the world, largely because of its fast pace, simple rules, and consistent returns. With that in mind, making a more accessible live casino roulette game seems like an odd choice. However, we should also remember that creative, innovative roulette variants have an excellent track record of being embraced by the gaming community. The same can’t be said for things like blackjack.

Anyway, Playtech K-Pop Roulette takes a different approach than most other roulette variants and hybrids. Most such games add features, bets, or player options onto the relatively basic roulette wheel. There are plenty of examples out there, such as Playtech’s own Quantum Roulette, Mega Fire Blaze Roulette, or the recent Lucky Ball Roulette. K-Pop roulette, on the other hand, strips things down to make it even simpler and snappier. It features merely a handful of simple wagers that you wouldn’t find in a classic version of the game.

Beyond that, Playtech also emphasized the visual aspects of the game. As the name implies, the studio and user overlay are inspired by the increasingly popular K-Pop aesthetic. In other words – bright colors, neon lights, and a thumping pop soundtrack. Additionally, the hosts are especially enthusiastic and engage the audience in the same way you would find on casino game shows.

Clearly, we’re looking at a specialized product – not everyone will like it, and they’re not supposed to. The target audience seems to be casual players who might not be too familiar with roulette but would like to join in on the fun. The review below will showcase how well Playtech achieved this goal.

How to Play K-Pop Roulette Live

Although K-Pop Roulette introduces several differences over most other live dealer roulette games, the basic gameplay loop is still the same. You can check out our beginner’s guide to roulette for a detailed tutorial, but we’ll break it all down below either way.

Every round begins with a betting period that lasts approximately 20 seconds. During this time, you can use the interface to place your bets. Simply select the size of your stake using the chips, then click on the position of the bet you wish to make.

After the beating period ends, the wheel spins automatically and slingshots a roulette ball (which means this game is technically auto-roulette.) If the ball lands on a number your bet(s) covers, you win. If not – better luck next time!

K-Pop Roulette Bets

As previously mentioned, this game does not allow you to make all of the usual roulette bets. You essentially have three options.

  • Even Money Bets – As usual, these wagers cover roughly half of all possible results and pay 1:1. Your options include Red, Black, Odd, and Even. High/Low bets are not available.
  • Section Bets – The K-Pop Roulette wheel is divided into four equal sections – Heart, Diamond, Star, and Moon. Obviously, these bets win if the ball lands in the corresponding section of the wheel, paying 4:1. Each section covers exactly 9 numbers, and they’re grouped based on the numbers’ physical proximity on the wheel. Note that the green Zero pocket does not belong to any of these sections, so they work much like Red or Black bets.
  • Lucky Number Bet -Places a Straight Up bet on a single, random number. Pays the most with 35:1, but is very hard to win. You can’t choose which number to bet on.
  • Zero Bet – Predicts that the ball will land on the green Zero and pays 35:1. This makes it the only available specific Straight Up bet in K-Pop Roulette Live.
K-Pop Roulette Strategy Tips
  • 1
As always, roulette is entierly a game of chance. All bets offer the same exact average return with 97.30% RTP. You should choose your wagers based on the amount of risk you're comfortable with.
  • 2
The best you can do in terms of a viable K-Pop roulette strategy is to manage your money carefully. Don't overextend, and keep a sharp eye on your spending.

Payouts & RTP

Although the wagers in the K-Pop Roulette live casino game are different from standard roulette, the payouts use the same basic concept. This means that every wager’s payout is inversely proportional to how many numbers it covers. In other words, the more numbers your bet covers, the more likely it is to win, and the less it will pay.

Even-money wagers pay the usual 1:1, while the limited Straight Up options pay 35:1. The sector bets pay 4:1, and there’s no real equivalent in other variants. However, the basic ratio of risk vs. reward is consistent, so the average returns are the same for all bets.

Bet Numbers Covered Payout
Playtech K-Pop Roulette Payouts
Red/Black/Even/Odd 18 1:1
Heart/Star/Diamond/Moon 9 2:1
Lucky Number 1 35:1
Zero 1 35:1

K-Pop Roulette RTP is 97.30%, which makes it exactly the same as every other European roulette on the market. This payout rate is consistent across all bets, including the new Section bets.

Our Verdict

Playtech K-Pop Roulette Live achieves exactly what it sets out to do. It takes the tried-and-true concept of roulette and streamlines it into a similar, yet unique game. We’re fairly confident Playtech wasn’t the first to think of this, but we’re sure it’s the first company to bring it to live dealer casinos.

This kind of approach to game design is probably going to be polarizing. Some will praise the simplicity, while others may not enjoy the “dumbing down” of an already simple game. We’ll just repeat what we said in the introduction – it’s not for everyone, but we’re sure there’s an audience for something like this. Especially when you also factor in the whole theme of Korean pop music.

All in all, it’s well-presented, works great, and offers a beginner-friendly take on this casino classic. There’s very little to complain about, barring perhaps the Lucky Number bet. Adding the option to actually pick the number you want to bet on would allow for more player control without sacrificing the simplicity. In our opinion, the Lucky Number bet could simply be an additional option for those who want to randomize Straight Up bets.

K-Pop roulette essentially removes some player options for the purposes of simplicity and speed. If that sounds like something you’re into, check out any of the recommended casinos on this page to play K-pop Roulette right now.
