The game boasts an RTP rate of 97% with bets ranging from $0.1 to $100 and is available on both desktop and mobile.

So-called crash casino games quickly became quite popular in online casinos around the globe. Seemingly pushed by software providers and online casinos alike, crash casino games crash games are an interesting new trend on the online gambling scene. They’re incredibly simple, fast-paced games with a lot of turnover but not a lot of versatility.

In other words, most crash games on the market are pretty much identical. Their premise is simple – you make a bet and watch your prize go up. The round ends the moment you decide to cash out, and the longer you wait the bigger your prize. However, the round also ends once your bet “crashes”, in which case you lose everything.

On one hand, the fact that crash games in casinos are so simple means that anyone can play them, even complete beginners. Moreover, switching from one crash game to another is easy since you don’t need to learn anything new. On the other hand, this also means that they’re pretty much all the same. A few attempts to innovate exist out there, such as Evolution’s Stock Market Live. However, even such variants boil down to very similar gameplay.

We’ll have to note a few things about Skyward from Betgames before we dive into the gameplay itself. First of all, this isn’t a true “live” game. All of the results are determined by RNG, and there is no actual stream or presenter. The only reason you’ll find it in live casino sections is that everyone who plays gets the same results at the same time. Seeing how Betgames doesn’t really offer the live chat feature or anything like that, it’s hard to say you’ll ever notice you’re playing live. Still, since it’s part of the Betgames portfolio, we decided to give it a full review.

How to Play Skyward

The Skyward casino game is a typical example of a Crash game. Players aim to withdraw their bets before the little aeroplane crashes. The timing of the cash-out is crucial; withdrawing early yields smaller rewards, while delaying increases the risk of a crash, resulting in a total loss of the wager. To illustrate the gameplay, we will now describe a typical round and the player’s available choices.

You only have one betting option in Skyward – you either participate in the next round or you don’t. To place a bet, select the size of your stake using the betting slip below the main game window. Once you click “confirm”, you’ll participate in the next round. If you don’t do so in time, you’ll have to wait for the next one. There is only 5 seconds of downtime between rounds, though, so you’ll have to be quick. No worries if you don’t make it in time – you can just wait for the next chance. A typical round only lasts a few seconds anyway.

You can place up to two bets at the same time. Both bets are identical, though. Placing two of them allows you to cash out at different times, expanding your strategic options.

Once the round begins, the little plane will take off. As it flies up, the multiplier number on the screen increases. This number is the prize you’ll win if you cash out at that specific moment.

Once you hit ‘Cash Out’, you receive a payout based on the multiplier shown at that exact moment. For instance, if you bet $10 and cash out while the multiplier is at 2x, you win $20.

However, the plane crashes at a random moment during the round. If it crashes before you cash out, you lose your bet and your entire stake. The longer you wait, the bigger your prize, but the riskier things get. Conversely, cashing out early helps you avoid the crash but doesn’t pay much.

Once the plane crashes, the next round begins a few seconds later.

Strategy Tips for Skyward
  • 1
Crash games are all about managing risk and reward. The earlier you cash out, the safer your money.
  • 2
However, they're also completely about luck and there is no real strategy to win more.
  • 3
However, bet hedging is a great strategy to help you keep your bankroll topped-up. Place both bets in every round. Cash out one of them early, at 2x or below. Use this "safe" bet to keep your bankroll up. Use the other bet to chase big multipliers.
  • 4
You can set up the auto-play feature on the betting slip. This will make the game place the same bet with the same stake in every round until you turn it off.
  • 5
You can also use an auto-cash-out feature. If you turn it on, the game will cash out in every round the moment the multiplier reaches the amount you specify.

Payouts & RTP

Betgames Skyward does not really have a fixed payout table. Instead, the odds are dynamic and change from round to round. The payout you can get depends on the moment you decide to cash out. The later that happens to be in the round, the higher your winnings.

From what we can gather from the game info, there is no fixed maximum multiplier. However, the chances of it reaching more than, say, 100x are astronomically small in our experience. However, this means there is no maximum multiplier in Skyward. Instead, the biggest amount you can win is limited by the casino you’re playing on. In most cases, this is $10,000, or the equivalent in other currencies. However, different venues come with different limits, so be careful.

Skyward RTP is 97%. This is relatively strong by RNG casino game standards, but it’s weaker than most table games such as roulette, blackjack, or baccarat. Moreover, we have to note that other live crash games have higher RTP rates. For example, Evolution’s Stock Market and Cash or Crash boast 99% and 99.59%, respectively. This makes Skyward a bit of a poor choice if you’re looking to play crash games in live casinos.

Our Verdict

Frankly, we can’t really say Skyward is one of Betgames’ best titles. We’ll freely admit that we’re a bit biased – we’re not really into the whole Crash style of gaming because there’s so little to it. However, Skyward has two glaring issues besides its simplicity. Firstly, it doesn’t really stand out from other games in this genre. Secondly, there are simply better options out there in terms of both gameplay and RTP.

Let’s start with the positives. If you’re really looking to play crash games in casinos, there’s nothing really wrong with this one. Its RTP is still better than that of many RNG-based competitors out there. It also boasts wide betting limits and handy UI features.

However, you’ll hardly notice the difference compared to other crash games. Also, if you really want to play live crash games, we recommend going with Stock Market or Cash or Crash. Not only are they more interesting in terms of gameplay (which is our subjective opinion), but they also have higher RTP (which is objectively a major advantage.)

All in all, it seems that Betgames didn’t put a lot of thought into this one. It’s a shame, too, knowing how creative this provider can be under the right circumstances.
