Easy Blackjack Live: Our Review, How and Where to Play

Evolution by Evolution

Easy Blackjack Live is an online live casino game made by Evolution that aims to simplify the classic game of blackjack. It allows an unlimited number of players to wager on the outcome of a single blackjack card hand, offering an easy-to-play twist on the relatively complex game of Twenty One. Although fans of actual blackjack are not likely to enjoy the changes it introduces, the game is an entirely fresh concept that you can’t find anywhere else.

On top of removing most of the decision-making you’ll find in a standard blackjack table, Easy Blackjack is also less profitable in the long run due to its 97.23% RTP rate. With all of that in mind, the game is mostly a novelty that probably won’t scratch that blackjack itch. If you want to know more about the game or how we reached this conclusion, check out the rest of our review.

Throughout our years of experience playing live casino games, we’ve seen quite a few attempts to “fix” the ever-popular game of blackjack. From the perspective of the industry’s various software providers and game designers, this classic casino game remains prohibitively complex. It’s not truly a difficult card game, but it presents players with impactful decisions that can make or break their experience with it. This stands in stark contrast to most other games you would find at a casino, which are largely focused on simplicity and quick turnover.

Speaking of which, blackjack’s relatively slow pace is another issue that deters many potential players. Rounds last longer than in, say, roulette or baccarat. It takes more effort to play Twenty-One, even though the payouts are capped at 3:2 if we exclude side bets.

These are precisely the issues that Evolution is hoping to address with Easy Blackjack, a simplified take on this age-old concept. To that end, Evo has fundamentally changed the game loop and rules of blackjack, turning it into a simple game based on predicting the sum total value of a single hand. Ironically, this means that Easy Blackjack has very little to do with actual blackjack except for some underlying ideas, such as the fact that reaching 21 is the ultimate goal. We’ll cover this in more detail in the gameplay guide below.

The rules and gameplay of Easy Blackjack are bound to be divisive. However, one thing is always constant with Evolution, and that’s production value. Like most tables from this provider, the game looks great and performs well on most devices, which is always good to see. In some ways, it reminds us of Infinite Blackjack – mostly because of the unlimited number of seats and the low minimum bet. Most similarities to earlier releases are only skin-deep, though, so we’ll dive right into the rules and features on offer.

How to Play Easy Blackjack

As we already mentioned, Easy Blackjack takes only slight inspiration from actual blackjack. The game loop is completely different, so we’ll take things step by step.

The goal in this game is to beat the dealer by betting on one or more predefined hand values. If the value you selected is higher than the total sum value of the dealer’s hand, you win. However, if the dealer hits 21 or a value higher than the one you predicted, you lose. Naturally, the dealer can also bust by going over 21.

The rules for how and when cards are drawn are the same as on a classic blackjack table. That means that the dealer starts with 2 cards and draws additional cards until they get to 17 or more.

Also, the cards have the same values as in blackjack. This means that cards from 2 to 10 are their face values while 10s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings all count as 10. Aces can be either 1 or 11, whichever is more favourable for the dealer.

Available Bets

The betting phase lasts around 12 seconds. During this period, you can make one or more bets on any of the following positions:

  • 16
  • 17
  • 18
  • 19
  • 20

No additional decisions are needed, which is what makes the Easy Blackjack casino game so fast and easy to play.

To reiterate, you win if the dealer’s hand ends up showing a lower score than you selected as a bet. If the dealer draws exactly the same score as you predicted, the bet is considered a push and your full stake is returned to you. Also, you automatically lose if the total is 21, whether it’s a “natural” blackjack or not.

Bust It Side Bet

The game also includes an optional side bet dubbed “Bust It.” This side bet also exists in standard blackjack tables, so experienced players may be familiar with it.

This side bet predicts that the hand score will exceed 21, ie. that the dealer will bust. If they do bust, you get a payout based on how many cards were drawn before the hand busted. This ranges from 1:1 for a 3-card bust to 250:1 for a bust with 8 or more cards. You can find the full list on the paytable below.

Best Tips for Easy Blackjack Live
  • 1
Score 18 seems to be Easy Blackjack's most balanced bet, offering just under 50% chance to win and close to even money payouts. If you're not sure what to bet on when playing for the first time, it's likely your safest bet.
  • 2
In our experience, the Score 20 bet is best avoided. Although it's almost certain to win every round, it barely pays anything and isn't really worth the time or effort.
  • 3
The Bust It side bet unfortunately stands out as a very bad wager. The RTP alone should make you steer clear of it.

Payouts & RTP

As one might expect, the payouts in Easy Blackjack depend on how likely your bet is to win. Easier bets win less while less likely outcomes pay more.

For example, betting on a Score of 20 will win most of the time because this wager only loses if the dealer gets to 21. That’s why it only pays 0.13:1, which is barely even a reward.

On the flip side, the Score 16 bet can only win if the dealer busts, which is why it pays considerably more at 2,45:1. All of the other betting options are somewhere in between these two, as shown in the table below.

Also, every individual bet has its own RTP rate, which you’ll also find listed.

Bet/Outcome Payout RTP
Main Bets
Score 16 2.45:1 97.23%
Score 17 1.93:1 97.10%
Score 18 0.95:1 97.21%
Score 19 0.48:1 97.19%
Score 20 0.13:1 97.07%
Bust It Side Bet
Dealer Bust with eight or more cards 250:1 93.83%
Dealer Bust with seven cards 100:1 93.83%
Dealer Bust with seven cards 50:1 93.83%
Dealer Bust with seven cards 9:1 93.83%
Dealer Bust with seven cards 2:1 93.83%
Dealer Bust with seven cards 1:1 93.83%

The RTP of Easy Blackjack depends on the bet you’re playing. However, the highest it can go is 97.23% with the Score 16 Bet. That’s not a terrible rate by most standards – it’s just slightly weaker than the 97.30% found in European Roulette. However, it’s considerably worse than with standard blackjack, for which it ranges from 99% to 99.50%.

New to Live Blackjack?

Our Verdict

Evolution Easy Blackjack is an interesting addition to the company’s expansive portfolio, but it’s questionable whether it will actually find an audience.

On the one hand, fans of blackjack are not likely to find a lot to like here. In our experience, the similarities to blackjack are surface-level at best. Not to mention the fact that it seemingly removes everything that makes blackjack – blackjack.

That said, live casinos always enjoyed high demand for simple, fast-paced games. That’s exactly what Easy Blackjack offers – a new way to wager on playing cards. It’s a decent enough game in that regard, but we can’t help but question whether it can provide entertainment other than a single session meant to experience its novelty. There’s just not enough there to make a game we would keep coming back to.

All in all, Easy Blackjack is a bit of an experiment, and it seems like it needed a bit more time in the oven.
