- How did you decide to become a live casino dealer?
Before I started working as a dealer, I was a manager. But as I said before, it was too much work. I wanted to separate my private life from the working one. I knew one of the dealers and he tipped me off on working as a dealer. The actual decision was kind of a gamble for me. I wasn’t too sure I liked the way it sounded, but did want to try it. Now I really like that I made that choice!
- What kind of training did you need to do and how long did it take before you could work as a live dealer?
When I started at a previous company, they said I would have 14 days of training. Actually, it was 5 days of training for all card games and roulette. When I started at Authentic Gaming, of course, I had an introduction as well. The technique is pretty much the same, but we do have a difference in for example the acting. Which is important here.
- What is your favorite part of the job?
I like being in front of the camera and to speak to the players, of course. At first, I wanted to join a land-based casino, because I like casino games. But now I have the games and talking to the players combined!
- How do you think the live casino vertical is reshaping the entire casino industry?
I think for some people it is better than the online casino world is growing. If it comes down to people deciding not to go to a land-based casino, then it has to do with the fact that online games, for example, offer pretty much the same experience. But people will probably still go to experience the atmosphere. It’s just a different audience.
- What is your advice for people who are thinking about becoming live dealers?
It is not the right job for you if you don’t want to make any mistakes in front of the camera. For example, when you get stuck while speaking. It happens to all of us and can be a bit funny for us and the players from time to time. And of course, you would need to be able to work strange hours and be able to work in shifts. That sounds simple, but can be a challenge for some.
- What do you like to do for fun in your leisure time when you’re not working as a live dealer?
Usually, I like to do photography, so taking some beautiful pictures can definitely be considered my hobby. But I haven’t done it for a while, to be honest. Nowadays I like to go to the gym, to take care of my body and of my health.
