Sic Bo is a popular casino game created in accordance with a purely oriental tradition. In this simple gambling game, players bet on the combinations of a dice roll. In fact, its name translated from Chinese refers to a pair of dice. Fast-paced and easy to play, sic bo is widely known across Asian land-based casinos. It’s also one of the most popular dice games online. Although it’s not as widespread as, say, roulette or baccarat, it holds an important niche in every respected online casino site. This is especially true for the best live casinos in Asia, which typically provide a range of Sic Bo options.

SA Gaming Live Sic Bo is one of the more high-quality variants available on the market. The game was developed by the Philippine company and added to an existing portfolio of live baccarat games, live roulette and other Asian-facing games like live dealer Fantan and Dragon Tiger.

SA Gaming’s sic bo is presented by a real human dealer. However, instead of the dealer rolling them on the table, the dice are in a glass container which acts as an automatic shaker. It’s a standard method of handling sic bo in live casinos, though it might not be everyone’s favourite. Also, SA Gaming games have a certain style of user interface which won’t appeal to everyone. It generally doesn’t look as good as some competing games, but it provides a huge amount of information.

How to Play SA Gaming Live Sic Bo

SA Gaming’s version of Sic Bo follows all of the usual rules. If you want to know more about the basics of this dice game, check out our beginner’s guide to Sic Bo.

The round starts when the countdown starts. Players have around 18 seconds to place their bets, cancel their initial bets and place new ones, confirm their choices and wait for the dealer to shake the dice inside the container finally. The croupier does so as soon as the clock stops by pressing a green button. The view on the dice container is zoomed in, but just in case there is always a digital representation of the outcome of all three dice at the end of each round.

The betting area has taken the form of a digitally rendered table upon which all the available bets are marked. Use the chips to set the size of your stake, and then click on any of these positions to place your wager.

SA Gaming Sic Bo Bets

One of the reasons players enjoy Sic Bo so much is that it offers a lot of different types of bets. SA Gaming included pretty much all of them here, so experienced players will have everything they could want. If you’re a rookie, though, here’s a short rundown of your options.

  • Small/Big bets – Small and Big bets refer to the outcome of all three dice. If the total is between 4 and 10, it is a Small, while Big bets pay out if the total is between 11 and 17. Both Small and Big bets pay 1:1. Please note that both bets will not pay out if the total consists of 3 identical values (3-of-a-kind or Triple).
  • Odd/Even bets – Win or lose based on whether the total of all 3 dice was an odd or even number. This bet also loses for a 3-of-a-kind result.
  • Single Number Bet – A bet that relates to 1 die out of 3 and only pays out if at least 1 die shows the bet result. The payout increases if more dice contain the same number.
  • Double Number Bet – Same as Single, except you pick two exact values and you need the dice to show those exact results.
  • Pair – Wins if two dice show your chosen number. For example, betting on a Pair of 1s wins if at least two dice show a 1.
  • Triple – All three dice must have the same value to be considered a triple. There is also a bet called Any Triple which pays 30:1, but a selected triple (of 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s or 6s) pays 180:1.
  • Combination – These bets involve a combination of 2 dice results at the end of the round. Two dice participate and the third dice is not included.
  • Total Bet – The most important bet in the game, as it refers to the total result obtained by combining the values of all 3 dice. In other words, players can bet on the total outcome of the roll by placing bets on specific numbers starting with 4 and ending with 17 (the payout is 60:1).
Strategy Tips
  • 1
Even Money bets like odd/even and big/small are by far your best options in terms of RTP.
  • 2
On the flip side, wagers like Specific Triple and similar high-risk options have much worse RTP. For instance, Triple bets come with a house edge of more than 14%.

Payouts & RTP

Unfortunately, there is no real “industry standard” when it comes to sic bo payouts. Wagers like even/odd are always the same, but there is some variation for other types of wagers.

SA Gaming’s version is generally on the higher end, but most payouts are decidedly average. In practice, Sic Bo strategy tells us that risky bets are best avoided because they often have the highest RTP. Check out our Sic Bo strategy guide for more details about the game’s house edge.

Special Features

A key feature of almost all SA Gaming games is the large, detailed user interface. It covers most of the screen in most views of the game, which some players may find distracting. However, it also provides a wealth of information for those who like to track stats. You can see previous results, bet success rates, as well as hot/cold numbers and outcomes. Although this won’t help you predict future outcomes, we know for a fact some people enjoy having access to these details.

Beyond that, the interface can be customized to a degree. You can use the options menu to change audio levels and video settings, as well as change that game’s language. The menu at the bottom right also contains a detailed rules table with all of the payouts and other details listed.

Languages

  • Currently, SA Gaming live roulette tables are presented in English, which is the only language the dealers use.
  • However, you can change the language of in-game text using the settings menu. Your options include English, Tagalog, Cantonese, Mandarin, Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi, Indonesian, Malay, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, and others.
  • You can also use the settings to set a custom voice over in a non-English language. This will replace live sounds from the studio with pre-recorded voiceovers in your chosen language.

Our Verdict

Live Sic Bo by SA Gaming is an easy-to-learn sic bo option with lovely native dealers and lots of handy tools. The game is packed with statistics and relies on straightforward gameplay without distractions. The dice roll lasts a few seconds, while the betting time lasts a lot longer, so you should always think twice before you place a wager, as you have enough time to do it.

All in all, though, the main selling point of SA Gaming Sic Bo are the interface and the localization options. The interface certainly won’t be to everyone’s liking, but it’s certainly a unique take some may prefer over the competition. The localization options, however, are what really set this game apart as one of the best online sic bo games in Asia. Offering a variety of languages and voiceover options, players from countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, or the Philippines will feel right at home.
