Fortune Roulette: Our Review, How and Where to Play

!DISCLOSURE
Pragmatic Play by Pragmatic Play

Fortune Roulette by Pragmatic Play is a live casino roulette game with multiplier features and a robust bonus round that can provide payouts of up to 9,000x your bet. The multipliers can be collected using any Inside bet, but that also means that these wagers’ RTP is reduced to 95.07%. However, it’s still one of the more interesting games in Pragmatic’s expansive portfolio thanks to its originality.

Multipliers and bonuses aside, Fortune Roulette works mostly like a standard game of European roulette. It’s a true live casino game with a classic manual wheel, although the presentation takes inspiration from live casino game shows.

In this review we’ll explain how to play Fortune Roulette and explore strategies to help you win more while playing. We’ll also compare the game to similar titles and offer our opinion on whether Fortune Roulette is worth your time and money.

Roulette games with multipliers are a long-standing trend in the live casino industry, and Pragmatic Play is no stranger to releasing such titles. Their lineup already includes successful games like Mega Roulette and PowerUp Roulette, both of which we enjoyed in their own way. Frankly, we thought Pragmatic wouldn’t make a new game in the genre, but it seems they’re not out of ideas yet.

Like many similar games, Fortune Roulette randomly distributes multipliers to specific numbers. These multipliers replace the standard payout for any Inside bets that cover the lucky numbers, adding a new layer of volatility to the beloved game of roulette. On top of that, the game also picks a single Bonus number that can qualify players for a unique bonus round as well as a Chest feature, which adds up all of the multipliers in the current round.

All in all, it’s a fairly creative title, though the RTP is significantly lower than standard roulette. You can consider this as a sort of trade-off: you get a chance to win potentially massive prizes, but your average returns suffer a bit.

How to Play Fortune Roulette

The base gameplay and betting process in Fortune Roulette is familiar to anyone who ever tried a live casino roulette game. We won’t explain every basic rule and bet – if you need to brush up on the basics, start with our live roulette tutorial.

Betting Phase

You have around 15 seconds to place your bets between each round. Use the chips to select the size of your stake, then place them on the betting grid to make a wager.

You can also use the re-bet and Autoplay features to make things easier. Re-bet repeats your previous bet or combination of bets. Autoplay repeatedly places the same wager and can be set for up to 100 rounds.

Fortune Roulette accepts all standard roulette bets, including both Inside and Outside options. However, only Inside bets can collect multipliers and trigger bonuses. Additionally, players can place sector bets using the racetrack view on the left side of the screen. Sector bets are just combinations of standard wagers, which means many of them can be used to collect multipliers.

This also means that the payouts for Inside bets are lower than usual. Specifically, Straight Up bets pay 23:1, Split bets pay 11:1, Street pays 7:1, Corner pays 5:1 and Six Line pays 3:1.

Bonus Features

After the betting period closes, numbers are randomly selected and assigned multipliers and bonuses.

  • 1-6 numbers are assigned random multipliers of up to 540x
  • 1 number is selected for the Chest feature
  • 1 number is selected as the Bonus number

Only Inside bets can collect multipliers and chests, and only winning Inside bets can qualify players for the Bonus round. We’ll explain how all of these features work below.

Multipliers

If you have an active Inside bet on a Lucky Number and the number wins, the multiplier replaces the standard bet payout. However, your prize depends on the type of Inside bets you used to win the multiplier.

  • Straight Up bets win the full multiplier value
  • Split bets win half of the total multiplier
  • Street bets pay 1/3rd of the multiplier value
  • Corner bets pay 1/4th of the multiplier
  • 6-Line wagers win only 1/6th of the total multiplier

Basically, the more likely your bet is to win, the less you stand to win. This makes sense considering all bets in roulette work that way. Just keep in mind that covering bigger sections of the wheel means you won’t win as much.

You can find all of the payouts and potential multipliers and bonus winnings below, in the Payouts section of this review.

Chest Feature

If the ball lands on the Chest number, all players with active Inside bets that cover that number receive a special reward.

This reward basically takes all of the multipliers assigned in that round and adds them together. This can mean that you win up to 6 multipliers at the same time, which can be a substantial reward.

However, the payout you receive is still proportional to the type of bet you used to win it. For example, Split bets only collect half the total multiplier value, while Corner wagers only receive 1/4th.

Bonus Round

If the ball lands on the Bonus number, all players with active Inside bets that cover that number get to participate.

The bonus round in Fortune Roulette looks like a 5-reel slot machine with 3 rows. However, it doesn’t work like most slots because it isn’t based around paylines.

Instead, the goal is for multipliers and Chests to land anywhere on the reels. If a Chest lands at the same time as one or more multipliers, the multipliers are collected and added together. The total sum of all collected multipliers is the prize that participating players will receive once the bonus round ends.

The round starts off with 5 spins. For every 3 Chests collected during these spins, 5 additional spins are awarded. The first time this happens, all of the multipliers in the bonus slot game are doubled.

After 6 chests are collected in total, 5 more spins are granted and all of the multipliers are multiplied by 5. Collecting 9 chests in total awards 5 spins on top of that and increases all slot multipliers by a factor of 10. These additional bonuses and spins can be tracked using the progress bar at the top.

The maximum payout in the Fortune Roulette bonus round is 9,000x.

However, note that your final prize depends on the type of bet you used to qualify. For instance, players who qualified using a Split bet only win half the total prize. Players who joined using a Corner bet receive 1/4th of the prize, and so on.

Fortune Roulette Strategy

Like most games of this type, Fortune Roulette is a game of chance. You can’t directly do anything to increase your chances to win, so there is technically no best strategy to win Fortune Roulette.

However, the whole point of the game is to try and win big multipliers or a lucky bonus round. Otherwise, you might as well play a classic roulette game.

With that in mind, the key to Fortune Roulette strategy is to find a combination of bets that maximizes your chances of winning multipliers and participating in bonus rounds. Remember – every number has an equal chance to win, so it’s all about finding the right way to place bets.

Let’s consider a few options.

Racetrack Bets Strategy

One solution is to place a Tiers du Cylindre bet using the racetrack view. This wager is a simple combination of 6 Split bets, covering almost a third of the wheel. This gives you a solid chance of collecting any bonuses whenever they pop up. Moreover, the fact that all of your wagers are Split bets means that it’s easy to calculate potential winnings – just split the total multiplier in half.

Alternatively, you could opt for something like the Orphelins bet. This wager features a Straight Up bet as well as 4 Split bets for a 21.7% chance to win. However, the numbers are more spread out across the wheel instead of targeting sectors like Tiers bets.

Two-Sided Bets Strategy

Inside bets can be highly unpredictable, and the same can be said about multiplier features in general. One way to lower the variance is by incorporating two-sided bets into your gameplay.

With this approach, you place a single even-money bet like Red or Black. While these bets can’t win multipliers, they have a high base win probability and a higher average RTP. This means that they’ll keep topping up your bankroll so that you can more easily pursue riskier wagers like Straight Up bets.

While this means you might take small losses in most rounds, the potential for a big win is still there if the ball lands on one of your selected numbers with a multiplier. This strategy balances steady play with the chance of a high Fortune Roulette payout.

Fortune Roulette Payouts

Outside bets in Fortune roulette pay their usual rewards, which are standard across the industry for European wheels.

However, Inside bets all have lower-than-usual payouts that compensate for the multipliers. Basically, these wagers win less on average, but have the potential to win a lot more than you could with standard roulette.

Also, different Inside bets have different maximum multipliers that they can collect. The more numbers a certain bet covers, the smaller the portion of the multiplier that it collects. The paytable below outlines the maximum multiplier for all types of bets in Fortune Roulette, along with the base, unmultiplied payouts.

Bet Numbers Covered Base Payout Maximum Multiplier
Inside Bets
Straight Up 1 number 23:1 540x
Split 2 numbers 11:1 270x
Street 3 numbers 7:1 180x
Corner 4 numbers 5:1 135x
Line 6 numbers 3:1 90x
Outside Bets

Even/Odd, Red/Black, 1-18/19-36 18 numbers 1:1 N/A

Fortune Roulette RTP & House Edge

Fortune Roulette has a Return to Player (RTP) of 97.30% for most bets, which is similar to standard European roulette. However, it’s important to note that the RTP for Inside bets is noticeably lower at 95.07%.

Essentially, bets that can collect multipliers and bonuses in Fortune Roulette have a higher house edge. This is a reasonable trade-off in many ways, and the same applies to most other roulette games with multipliers. However, we should also note that Fortune Roulette has a lower RTP rate than many competing games. For instance, Lightning Roulette, the most famous game of this kind, boasts 97.10% RTP for wagers that can be multiplied.

In short, Fortune Roulette has a lower RTP than most other roulette games with multipliers. However, it also features the Bonus round and the Chest feature, allowing for bigger payouts than most of the competition.

Live Fortune Roulette Betting Options Table

Most bets in Fortune Roulette work as usual. However, different Inside bets offer different potential multipliers. Moreover, each type of Inside bet except Straight Up collects only a portion of bonus winnings based on how many numbers it covers. The table below lists all available bets in Fortune Roulette, the potential multipliers it can collect, the maximum bonus it can win, and the percentage of bonus winnings it collects. We’ve also included the RTP for each type of bet for easy reference.

Interface & Usability

Pragmatic Play’s interface is more-or-less the same for all of their games. It’s both intuitive to use and familiar to experienced bettors, which makes the game easy and enjoyable to play.

The racetrack view to the left is especially of note. Unlike in most live roulette games, it doesn’t require you to switch to a different viewing mode. Additionally, it highlights which Sector bets cover which numbers on the betting table, which is quite handy. It seems Pragmatic fully anticipated people to use so-called French bets in this game, which makes sense considering these bets are all combinations of standard Inside wagers.

Fortune Roulette statistics and game results are tracked through several UI elements in the bottom right. These features highlight hot/cold numbers and provide results for the previous 150 rounds. While these statistics can’t help you to know which numbers will win in the future, they can help you understand how common (or uncommon) multiplier and bonus wins really are.

Graphics & Presentation

The game’s graphics are about on the same level as all other Pragmatic titles. In short, they’re not as good-looking as, say, Evolution’s games, but they’re still visually solid overall.

The video stream itself is stable and high-quality, though we have noticed that the quality can drop from time to time for no apparent reason. It’s a minor technical issue, but it’s present nonetheless.

The studio itself is fairly generic for a game of this kind. It doesn’t follow a particular theme, and it doesn’t feature much more than a standard manual wheel and a big, flashy screen in the background that’s used for the bonus round.

Live Dealer Experience

From the outside, Fortune Roulette almost looks like a game show thanks to its colorful studio. However, the actual experience of playing it is much closer to a classic roulette wheel.

The fact that the wheel is operated manually by the presenter adds to this impression. Moreover, the camera movements are all relatively simple, further adding to the feeling that you’re just playing roulette with flashy visuals.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, of course. Just don’t expect the entertainment-style presentation seen in Lightning Roulette and similar games.

Languages

  • Currently, the only available Fortune Roulette table is presented entirely in English.
  • That said, you can still change the language of the UI in the settings menu. Available options include Bulgarian, Chinese, Danish, English, French, German, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Vietnamese, and more.

Our Verdict

Fortune Roulette puts some interesting ideas forward and provides a unique experience for anyone looking to spice up their roulette gameplay. However, it’s not without its flaws, as our review has hopefully illustrated.

On one hand, we appreciate that all Inside bets can trigger bonuses and multipliers. It’s a breath of fresh air considering most games of this type are only concerned with Straight Up bets. However, Fortune Roulette is not the only game to multiply all Inside bets. Playtech’s Jet Set Racing Roulette and OnAir’s Diamond Rush Roulette do the same thing while also maintaining a much higher RTP.

That leaves the bonus round and Chest features as Fortune Roulette’s most important parts. They’re fun, but we’re not sure whether they’re worth increasing the house edge so much. Of course, a 9,000x maximum payout is very attractive to players who like to take big risks, but we would have appreciated a more player-friendly math model.

With all that in mind, we can only recommend Fortune Roulette to players who really enjoy big bonuses and don’t mind turning up the volatility at the cost of RTP. Everyone else can find better alternatives, such as the Jet Set Racing Roulette and Diamond Rush Roulette games we already mentioned.

How We Rate Live Roulette Games

Our game reviews and ratings are based on a strict set of standards. These standards were developed over many years of playing and analyzing live dealer games of all sorts. Here are some of the key factors we consider before giving our recommendation:

  • Graphics & Stream Quality – Although visuals are not the most important factor, they certainly matter. Good-looking games create a better and more immersive atmosphere. Moreover, the game’s graphics can set it apart from the competition.
  • UI and User-Friendliness – Well-designed games have intuitive interfaces that are easy to use and access. Our reviews also consider any additional UI elements such as betting options, performance settings, stats and histories, and more.
  • Payouts & RTP – How much your bets win is crucial for determining a casino game’s quality. A higher RTP is always better for us as players, making RTP one of the most objective ways to rate how good a particular game is.
  • Gameplay – This refers to how the game actually plays – whether it’s exciting, fun, engaging, and whether we’ve actually enjoyed playing it. This is extremely important for unique products such as Fortune Roulette.
  • Extra Features – This refers to any added features such as additional bonuses, multipliers, and UI elements.
  • Platform compatibility – We also rate how well a game performs on mobile devices, apps, etc.
  • Localization and Native-speaking Tables – Games with a lot of language options are more accessible to international audiences, which is why we consider such features as well.
