As the name implies, Evolution’s game is based on the phenomenon of Marble Races. If you’re unfamiliar with them, marble races are YouTube videos that emerged as a trend during the COVID-19 pandemic while the world was starved of sporting events and similar forms of entertainment. These videos approached the races with all of the seriousness of a real sport, complete with custom tracks, live commentary, statistics, and all the other bells and whistles. The races ended up being a smash success, accruing a surprising number of viewers all around the world – you can check out this YouTube channel to get a feel for what it all looks like.

It seems like Evolution took a look at all of this and asked – what if we could bet on these races?

It’s not a far-fetched idea, especially if we also consider that every marble is equally likely to win any given race. This means that the results are always fairly random, which is the case with most casino games.

Marble Race answers this question in the form of a live casino game. It’s fairly easy to imagine how it all works – marbles roll down a track in a purpose-made studio, and players are able to wager on the results in real time. That’s exactly what this game delivers. If that sounds like fun to you, this review will tell you everything you need to know about Marble Race live.

How to Play Marble Race Live

Marble Race was designed as a simple, fast-paced game that’s easy to get into even for complete beginners.

Every round is divided into two phases – the betting phase and the actual race.

Betting Phase

During the betting phase, players make bets on which marble they believe will win the race. All you have to do is select the size of your stake and click on the square that corresponds to the color of your chosen marble. There are six options in total: black, red, yellow, blue, green, and white.

There are two types of bets in Marble Race Live:

  • 1st Place – This bet simply predicts that the selected marble will win the race. If you guess correctly, you win 4.75:1.
  • 1st and 2nd place – This wager predicts which two marbles will finish the race in first and second place. It wins only if you correctly predict both placements – you have to correctly pick which marble will finish first, and which marble will finish second.

The betting period lasts for around 15 seconds, giving you ample time to place your bets.

The Race

After the betting period ends, the marbles are gathered in their starting positions. The positions are randomized for every race, which makes every round of the game unique and eliminates any doubt as to the randomness of the results.

The game presenter then starts the race by opening the gates. The marbles race down the track, which features several types of obstacles to keep things interesting. It starts with strong curves and dips, eventually progressing to a pachinko-like obstacle course which is designed to create last-minute changes and dramatic finishes.

The race ends when at least two marbles cross the finish line. If you bet on the winning marble (or the 1st and 2nd place winners), you win.

Step-by-Step Guide

To sum up, we’ll walk you through the process of playing a single round of Marble Race Live.

  • During the betting period, click on one or more of the colored squares to make bets.
  • The color of the squares corresponds to the color of the marble you believe will win.
  • Alternatively, click on two squares to predict the 1st and 2nd place winners.
  • Once the betting period ends, sit back and enjoy the show.
  • If you correctly predicted the winning marble(s), you win.

Note that a round of Marble Race lasts a bit longer than, say, a round of roulette. The game builds tension by allowing the marbles space to overtake each other.

Marble Race Live Strategy

As you’ve probably guessed by now, Marble Race is completely based on luck. You have no control over which marble will win. Moreover, their starting positions are randomized in every round, which ensures every bet starts off on a level playing field.

However, we still have some strategy tips to consider.

First of all, you should keep in mind that even the safer 1st place bet is still quite risky, offering a 16.67% baseline chance to win. This means that proper money management is crucial. If you don’t carefully manage your bankroll, you’re bound to quickly burn through it. Our advice is to divide your bankroll into equal units and keep track of your spending in every round.

Additionally, the risky nature of these bets means that it’s best to make several selections per round. However, if you pick too many, you’ll end up spending a lot per round without major profits.

Lastly, the 1st and 2nd place combined bet is not a good bet to make, and I suggest avoiding it. The chances of winning this bet are just over 2.7%, so they’re a huge longshot. Additionally, it has considerably lower RTP than the already-low RTP of the 1st Place bet.

As such, our strategy is to place two 1st Place bets on two marbles. It doesn’t really matter which marbles you pick, but picking two gives you a solid chance of winning while maintaining a decent profit margin.

Pros and Cons of Marble Race Live by Evolution

Pros Cons

✅ Unique concept with no direct alternatives in the industry

✅ Gameplay designed to ensure randomness and fairness

✅The purpose-made race track is designed to make races dramatic

✅ Professional and charismatic presenters

✅Fun, exciting experience comparable to horse racing

✅ Low minimum bet at just $0.1

✅ High availability at popular casinos

✅ Live chat for easier in-game communication

✅Top-notch graphics quality

❌ Only two betting options

❌ Repetitive gameplay with no real depth

❌Low RTP

❌1st and 2nd Place bets require you to switch to a different mode

Bets & Payouts

The game features only two types of bets with fixed odds. They pay the same no matter which marbles you pick because every marble has the same chance of winning.

I’m a bit disappointed with how limited the betting options are. The concept of the game leaves a lot of space for other types of wagers. For instance, Evolution could have taken inspiration from horse racing to include Place and Each Way bets that would add a lot of flexibility. As it stands, the game can get a bit repetitive on the betting end. The races themselves are fun enough – I just wish there were more ways to interact with them.

The table below shows you the payout, probability, and RTP of both types of bets in Marble Race Live.

Bet Payout Probability RTP
Marble Race Live Bets
1st Place 4.75:1 16.67% 95.83%
1st & 2nd Place 27:1 2.78% 93.33%

Marble Race Live RTP & House Edge

According to Evolution’s information, the 1st Place bet in Marble Race has an RTP of 95.83%. The 1st and 2nd Place bet is much worse off with 93.33%.

All in all, it means that the game has a very high house advantage. For reference, most online slots boast around 96% RTP, while most table games have 97% or more. This means that Marble Race is a less profitable game on average than most others you can play in a live casino setting.

The poor RTP puts a major damper on my impressions of the game. Slightly higher payouts would have ensured a much stronger RTP, and I wish Evo would re-balance them a bit.

Interface & Usability

The game interface features all of the usual elements of Evolution games, such as video and audio settings, a live chat, language options, and so on. You’ll find all of these at the top of the screen.

The betting section itself has two main elements – the betting positions and the statistics.

The betting positions are simple colored squares. However, if you want to make a 1st and 2nd place bet, you’ll need to switch on the ‘compound mode.’ This option allows you to specifically pick which marbles you believe will place first, and which will place second. As such, making these bets is a bit obtuse at first, but you quickly get used to it.

The statistics screen is at the bottom right. It displays the winners of the previous 30 rounds as well as the win percentages for all six marbles. Of course, this information is not useful for betting because the marbles all have a 16.67% chance to win any round, but it gives you insight into how the game works.

Graphics & Presentation

The game is streamed from a purpose-made studio that’s dominated by the race track Evolution made. It’s a fun enough track, and I appreciate the fact that Evo didn’t just put a pachinko board and call it a day. It seems some thought went into designing the track, which pays off in the long run.

Beyond that, the graphics don’t have a particular style or theme. The video feed itself is stable and clear, which is to be expected from a company of Evolution’s calibre.

Live Dealer Experience

The interesting part about Marble Race is that a lot of things happen in a single round compared to other casino games. Marbles bump into each other, positions change, and every race has a lot of room for dramatic moments and excitement. It can feel like a real sport once you get into the groove of things.

This makes the presenter’s job all the more difficult, though. They have to keep up with the races and provide commentary. When done right, the whole experience can feel like a horse race, only sillier and more random. Thankfully, Evolution’s hosts are up to the task. While the math model and betting options of Marble Race leave a lot to be desired, the actual playing experience is quite fun.

Languages

  • Currently, the only available Marble Race Live stream is presented entirely in English.
  • However, the options menu allows you to change the language of in-game text. Language options include English, Arabic, Albanian, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and more.

Our Verdict

Evolution’s Marble Race is certainly an interesting concept. It has a lot of potential as a new form of online betting, and the experience of playing the game can be surprisingly exciting. However, I feel like Evo fumbled the execution in a few crucial aspects.

First of all, the game’s central concept is great because it can introduce all sorts of bets and predictions. For some reason, though, Evolution decided to allow just two types of bets. It feels like wasted potential.

Secondly, the game’s RTP is unacceptably low. This is especially annoying because the RTP could be improved by just slightly increasing the payouts.

On the bright side, I have to appreciate the uniqueness of the idea and the fun you can have with Marble Race. Both of these advantages are undeniable. However, I feel like the game could be a lot better with a few simple additions and tweaks.

As it stands, the novelty of Marble Race will wear off quickly once you see how damaging it is to your bankroll. I can recommend giving it a try for the sake of a new experience, but it’s not a game you’ll want to come back to often.

How We Rate Live Casino Games

Our game reviews and ratings are based on a strict set of standards. These standards were developed over many years of playing and analyzing live dealer games of all sorts. Here are some of the key factors we consider before giving our recommendation:

  • Graphics & Stream Quality – Although visuals are not the most important factor, they certainly matter. Good-looking games create a better and more immersive atmosphere. Moreover, the game’s graphics can set it apart from the competition.
  • UI and User-Friendliness – Well-designed games have intuitive interfaces that are easy to use and access. Our reviews also consider any additional UI elements such as betting options, performance settings, stats and histories, and more.
  • Payouts & RTP – How much your bets win is crucial for determining a casino game’s quality. A higher RTP is always better for us as players, making RTP one of the most objective ways to rate how good a particular game is.
  • Gameplay – This refers to how the game actually plays – whether it’s exciting, fun, engaging, and whether we’ve actually enjoyed playing it. This is extremely important for unique products such as Marble Race Live.
  • Extra Features – This refers to any added features such as additional bonuses or UI elements.
  • Platform compatibility – We also rate how well a game performs on mobile devices, apps, etc.
  • Localization and Native-speaking Tables – Games with a lot of language options are more accessible to international audiences, which is why we consider such features as well.
