Se Die Live: Our Review, How and Where to Play

SA Gaming by SA Gaming

Se Die by SA Gaming is a live online casino betting game released in 2023. It’s inspired by an iconic Vietnamese gambling game that is played by shaking a bowl with four two-sided tokens. Players can bet on various outcomes relating to the side the coins end up showing. The game boasts an RTP of 98.75% with a minimum bet of $1 and a $2,000 maximum wager. It’s available on both desktop and mobile in all casinos with SA Gaming software.

Se Die is the first-ever attempt to adapt this ancient Vietnamese game to a live dealer format. The resulting product is interesting and unlike anything else on the market today. Players can enjoy multiple betting options, plenty of handy features, and a very strong RTP that is better than most other games found at a casino.

Asian online casinos have always catered to a different market than the ones in the West. For starters, different games tend to be popular, with baccarat being the most common casino game to play in Asia. It doesn’t end there, of course – local gambling traditions throughout the continent have produced all sorts of games that don’t fall into the usual casino categories. As online casinos continue to grow in popularity in Asia, a large demand for interesting games such as Pok Deng and Fantan has appeared. SA Gaming, one of the biggest providers of casino games in Asia, quickly met this demand. They already had several releases inspired by the interesting gambling games found throughout the Far East. This time around, they’re adapting an iconic Vietnamese game of dice to the live casino format.

Let’s start by answering a simple question – what is Se Die?

Se Die is an old gambling game originating in Vietnam. It’s played using four coin-like tokens, a bowl, and a plate. Each token is two-sided, and the goal of the game is to predict which side the tokens will show after the dealer shakes them in a bowl. There’s a bit more to it, of course, but it’s a delightfully simple game that keeps the action moving at all times. We’ll cover the rules of Se Die in detail throughout this review.

For now, we’ll note that the game is presented with the usual interface found in all SA Gaming games. This means that most of the screen is covered in UI elements such as buttons, roadmaps, stats, and menus. The actual stream window is relatively small. This kind of design won’t suit everyone, but it’s great if you like keeping track of roadmaps. Besides, this is currently the only way to play Se Die online live, so it’s not like you have any alternatives at the moment.

How to Play Se Die Live

The Se Die game is intended to be simple, accessible, and lightning-fast. By that we mean that rounds go by quickly – the betting period lasts around 15 seconds, and the results are revealed almost immediately.

As noted above, the game uses a bowl, a plate, and four tokens. These tokens each have a red and a white side. A single round can be explained in just a few short steps.

  • Four tokens are positioned on the plate
  • During the betting period, the dealer places the bowl over the plate.
  • They lift the bowl and plate with the tokens still inside and shake it while tightly covering the bowl with the plate
  • The dealer places the plate and bowl back on the table and the betting period ends
  • The bowl is then lifted from the plate, revealing the four tokens

As mentioned previously, the objective of Se Die is to predict which side the four coins will be showing after the dealer lifts the bowl. If one or more of the coins are not clearly visible, the presenter will move some of them around with a stick. If by some miracle one of the tokens is standing on its side, the round restarts and all bets are still in place.

Se Die Bets

The primary way of interacting with Se Die in online casinos is by placing one or more bets during the betting period. Here is a complete list of all bets in Se Die:

  • Big predicts that the number of tokens showing red is greater than the number of tokens showing white. Your stake is returned of the result is 2 red/2 white.
  • Small is the opposite, and it wins if there are more white tokens than white ones. Your stake is returned of the result is 2 red/2 white.
  • Even wins if the outcome consists of an even number of red and white tokens. This can be 4 red, 4 white, or 2 red/2 white.
  • Odd wins if the outcome consists of an odd number of red and white tokens. This can be 1 red/3 white or 3 red/1 white.
  • Exact result tokens are lined up above the rest and are all about predicting the exact combination of red and white tokens. For instance, if you bet on 3 red/1 white, your bet wins only if there are exactly three red tokens and one white token on the plate. They also have different payouts based on the probability of winning. For example, 4 red and 4 white are the least likely outcome so these bets pay 14:1. Statistically, 2 red/2 white is the most probable result, so this bet only pays 1.5:1.

You can check out all of the payouts for every type of bet further down in this SA Gaming Se Die review.

Live Casinos Best Tips for Se Die

Big, small, odd, and even are clearly identical in terms of both RTP and risk. We recommend sticking to these wagers to start with because they can win through multiple results.
  • 2
That said, it doesn't really matter whether you predict red or white tokens. Every token has a 50/50 shot at showing red or white in every round.
  • 3
However, not all exact results have the same shot at winning. For example, it's far less likely that all four tokens show the same side than for them to be split evenly. As a result, bets predicting 4 white or 4 red tokens pay the most.

Payouts & RTP

The payout structure of Se Die is easy to remember, and most payouts are displayed clearly on their betting positions. However, just in case, we’ve included a complete rundown of all bets in Se Die and their corresponding payouts. You can find them below.

The only thing you should really remember is that Odd, Even, Big, and Small all pay 0.96:1. That’s pretty much even money, minus the house advantage. Exact Result bets pay according to their likelihood of success. However, there are essentially only three permutations – four of a kind, three of a kind, or a 2/2 split. See the paytable for more information.

We have no clear data on whether different bets offer different rates. Still, 98.75% is very strong, beating out most common casino games except blackjack and some baccarat tables.

New to Se Die?

Our Verdict

As the first online Se Die game to hit the internet, this SA Gaming title is certainly innovative. The novelty alone is a good enough reason to try it – especially considering the solid RTP rate and fair rules. Novelty is far from this game’s only strength, of course. It’s incredibly simple but enjoyable, allowing for lightning-fast rounds and a decent range of bets.

In many ways, Se Die is like a simplified version of Sic Bo with better RTP. Whether you want to simplify Sic Bo is up to you, but we can definitely say that the high RTP of Se Die is a clear advantage.

That said, SA Gaming’s style of presenting its games has never been everyone’s cup of tea. To many, it looks cluttered and painfully dated. However, there are definitely plenty of players who enjoy this function-over-form approach. We can’t call it a great-looking game, but it certainly gives the average player everything they need, and it’s all clear and accessible.

All in all, an interesting addition to SA Gaming online casinos. We’re always happy to welcome fresh casino experiences, and Se Die Live is as unique as can be.
