The Lightning family of Evolution live casino games is arguably one of the most impactful releases in recent live casino history. It seems every new table game these days has some sort of big multiplier or extra feature, and it all started with Lightning Roulette. Of course, Evo also expanded the brand with Lightning Dice, Blackjack and, of course, Baccarat.
In 2021, the series was updated with a new line of games, aptly named XXXTreme Lightning. The idea behind these sequels is to take the same proven mechanics of Lightning games and turn them up to 11.XXXTreme Lightning Roulette was the first to receive such a treatment, and it remains a popular pick among players. This new baccarat game essentially does the same, except it uses the innovative Lightning Baccarat Live.
As such, we should note that XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat is in most regards identical to the original. The multipliers can reach bigger numbers, but the 20% fee on all bets has been increased to 50%, which also resulted in a difference in RTP. Either way, we highly advise that you read our review of Lightning Baccarat first. It will give you the kind of perspective you’ll want to better judge this game, on top of helping you better understand the rules and features.
As most baccarat games, XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat is played with 8 standard 52-card decks which the dealer draws cards from a shoe of previously shuffled cards. You can bet on Banker, Player, or Tie – the three standard wagers in baccarat.
To bet, you can use the three main betting areas at the center of the screen by placing chips on them.. There are also two additional side bet areas for Banker Pair and Player Pair. We’ll discuss these in more detail later.
As always, your goal is to predict whether Banker or Player will be closer to a total value of 9 after drawing two cards. Each hand may also receive a third card, depending on special Baccarat third card rules. Only the last digit of any hand total counts towards winning, so all cards 10 and over count as a 0.

We should also note that all winning Banker bets have to pay a small 3% commission because Banker is more likely to win than Player. However, in XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat, that fee is smaller than the usual 5%.
The most important feature of XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat are the multipliers. They’re what sets this game apart from the competition, and the centerpiece of the whole Lightning theme. Here’s how it all works.
In every round, between 4 and 8 cards are randomly selected from a virtual deck of 52 cards. These cards are selected for Lightning Multipliers.
Each of these cards is randomly assigned a 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x, or 10x multiplier. You can see the current Lightning Cards in the bottom left corner of the screen.
If you make a bet and it wins after drawing a Lightning Multiplier card, your winnings are increased by the multiplier. Importantly, only the cards for the winning Player or Banker side apply. For instance, your Player bet can only be multiplied by Lightning cards that are drawn on the Player side of the table.
For example, let’s say that the 5 of Clubs was selected for a 5x multiplier. If you bet on Banker and the Banker hand draws a 5 of Clubs and wins, you’ll win 5x your stake.
Interestingly, these multipliers stack multiplicatively with each other. For example, if the hand you bet on contains a 2x multiplier and a 3x multiplier, you’ll end up with a total 6x multiplier.
Winning Tie bets can be increased by any card on the table. This effectively means that up to 6 multipliers can affect a single Tie bet, leading to massive (but highly unlikely) potential payouts.
However, a 50% commission is charged on all bets in XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat to cover the costs of these potential multipliers. Note that this 50% does not count towards calculating payouts, same as the 3% Banker commission.
XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat also offers to side bets. Well, to be fair, they’re more like one side bet with two sides – Player and Banker.
The Player/Banker Pair side bet wins if the first two cards dealt to that side of the table are of the same value. A Player Pair bet only wins if the Player hand draws a pair, and vice versa.
Importantly, XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat side bets can also be increased by multipliers.
The base payouts XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat are similar to standard baccarat, with some exceptions.
The Player/Banker bets offer even money, same as always. However, they also have a shot at reaching 1,000:1 through multipliers.
On the flip side, Tie only pays 2.85:1, compared to the usual 8:1. However, they can reach dizzying heights of 2,850,000:1 thanks to all the stackable multipliers.
Bear in mind that all payouts in Evolution’s games are hard-capped at $500,000, which is also the maximum payout in XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat.

The optimal RTP in XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat is 98.68%, which can be accessed strictly through the Player main bet. The Banker bet is slightly weaker, though it’s still worth playing if you prefer it. Tie and Pair bets, however, are much weaker in terms of house edge and are best avoided by new players.

XXXTreme Lightning Baccarat follows a formula that simply works, as has been proven time and again. The original game earned a big following of dedicated players, and we don’t see why this version wouldn’t. Especially considering the notable success of XXXTreme Lightning Roulette.
In fact, we would say that this XXXTreme version of the game outshines the original in several ways. Simply put, it more heavily leans into the features that made it so good in the first place. The multipliers are bigger, there’s more of them, and the resulting payouts are much bigger. Of course, this comes at a cost of bigger fees and slightly lower RTP, which may not suit everyone.
