About Sunbet Software

Sunbet isn’t your average software provider. Unlike many brands that we’ve reviewed here at Livecasinos.com, they aren’t an independent supplier. Instead, they are owned and run by Inplay Matrix, one of the top iGaming companies in all of Asia. There are over 900 brands under their umbrella, including dozens of clients across a variety of niches. From the get-go, this instills a lot of trust into us, as Inplay Matrix is known for being fair and reputable, on top of providing some excellent products. Whether it’s sports betting, RNG games, or live casino tables, they know what they’re doing and they’ve been at it since 2009.

Initially, Inplay Matrix focused mainly on bookmaking services. In the beginning, they were also a direct supplier for Playtech. Most of the games they provided include Asian-themed slots and keno games, both of which are a large part of Playtech’s repertoire. However, Inplay soon realized that players were looking for something more authentic. Thus, they founded Sunbet Games in 2010. Don’t be confused if you see the brand being called TGP Sunbet on some sites. This is because The Gaming Platform (TGP) is the official reseller and retailer of Sunbet software, so some casinos will just merge them to avoid confusion.

What about Sunbet’s overall image and goals? Well, like many of their sister brands and competitors, they advertise themselves as the optimal solution for Asian live casino games. While the market is indubitably saturated, Sunbet has managed to find holes that need to be filled. For instance, they are one of the only providers to offer poker in Southeast Asia, as well as an actual live dealer version of mahjong. Sure, they may not provide the staples of European casinos, but we believe their efforts perfectly encapsulate the pizzazz of Asian casinos. They’re also licensed by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), a notable Filipino regulator.

Sunbet Studio Locations Worldwide

As of June 2021, Sunbet only has one studio. It’s located in Manila, the Filipino capital. Overall, we’re not quite pleased with what we see. The facilities seem small and haphazardly put together. You can often see random wires on the floor, as well as people sitting at their computers. We’ve never seen a software provider actually record from their offices, but there’s a first time for everything. There’s also a significant amount of audio interference, as you can hear other dealers drowning out the dealer you’ve spoken to. If you’re looking for a calming experience, you should definitely pick a provider that has their act together.

There’s more bad news. The camerawork looks like you’ve accidentally stepped into a time machine and went back to 2008. This downside is even more perplexing when you realize that the actual stream only takes a small part of your screen. The rest is devoted to the UI, which is clean, but too big at some tables. For instance, why would anyone need a gargantuan list of roulette numbers? Aesthetically, it doesn’t make sense, but it’s at least visible and easy to grasp for beginners. We would really like to see Sunbet improve in this department, as they have lots of potential that shouldn’t be squandered so lightly.

When it comes to the dealers, they are just splendid. Despite the shoddy video quality and all the problems in the studio, they remain polite and charming. However, we wish they were more talkative, as Sunbet’s games sometimes feel like playing an RNG version and not the real thing. As for native tables, you can expect a Chinese-speaking dealer here and there. Other than that, all tables are in English and you can change the interface’s language. When you consider everything, this provider doesn’t really impress when it comes to its studio and dealers. They can do a lot of things better. The good news is, though, that these things are not unfixable.

Live Game Portfolio of Sunbet

If you’ve never played live casino games before, chances are that you’re going to enjoy what Sunbet has to offer. It’s the ideal way to dive into the excitement of live-streamed action. The UI is another reason why you should try them. It’s big and all the betting options are clearly marked. However, if you are a pro, you will definitely be annoyed by a lot of things coming from this provider. It’s not ideal to have ~70% of your screen covered by stats and the betting interface. If you’re a mobile player, this can be even worse.

However, they do offer a unique take on some games that aren’t all that known by the wider public. While poker might be a multi-billion dollar industry by itself, it’s still not that big in Asia. Sunbet tries to change that with a few interesting tables. There’s also a nice showcase of traditional Asian games, including a rare sighting of mahjong. Realistically, they can do much better, but a few unique titles and a stable platform allowed them to become a hot commodity. In the next few sections, we’ll break down the overall state of Sunbet’s offer, including what they’re missing.

Want to try out something else? No worries, Sunbet has you covered. They are one of the only Asian providers to actually offer craps. In fact, this is a rare occasion even when you take a look at the global scale. Only Evo has managed to port this game to a live casino platform and still make it look amazing. Sunbet, on the other hand, isn’t quite there yet. Bullfight and mahjong, on the other hand, are masterfully delivered. Both of these games retain that oriental feel, while being perfectly playable on phones, tablets, and computers. It’s a nice experience, to be frank. Aside from baccarat and poker, this is exactly what Sunbet should be focusing on. They’ve obviously found a niche and could be even more successful. Sadly, they lack the technical chops needed to make a refined product. Still, for casual play and some good clean fun, bullfight and mahjong are great choices.

Live Baccarat is the core of the supplier’s portfolio. Since this is the crowd’s favorite at Sunbet land casino in Macau, the supplier decided to give online gamblers multiple tables to choose from so that they could get a glimpse of the atmosphere of the real casino floor. There are two versions available, standard baccarat and Bid Baccarat. All the games on offer can seat up to 7 players at a time. Along with the regular Banker, Player and Tie bets, you can also bet on a Player/Banker Pair. While the road maps could use a redesign, this is a solid example of live baccarat. The squeeze function becomes available to the player with the highest bet (Live Bid Baccarat offers this privilege). The standard variant charges a 5% commission on Banker bets. In terms of available variants, it’s a decent combo. We would like to see more of this effort, though.

If you’ve had experiences with Asian-oriented software suppliers, then you’ve probably seen the pattern by now – most of them focus primarily on developing baccarat games, leaving other popular formats for later. This is also the case with Sunbet, whose portfolio lacks blackjack but compensates with numerous tables where traditional Chinese games are played 24/7. Compared to other brands, Sunbet offers a much more diverse portfolio. Still, a blackjack table or two wouldn’t hurt.

Within the live casino environment, European roulette is the norm. Sunbet offers its version of live dealer roulette with European rules. That means that the wheel has a single zero slot, as opposed to the American wheel which sports two zeroes (therefore a higher house edge). Live action takes place across the upper half of the screen, while the digital betting area is positioned below. Once the round is underway, an additional window zooms in on the wheel so that the bettors can keep track of the ball and feel the excitement in real-time. On paper, everything seems fine, but the overall setup is ugly. We’re not in 2008 anymore, so there’s no excuse not to offer a full-screen stream. Betting possibilities include both the regular grid and the Racetrack layout. Live chat is enabled, as well as the breakdown of past game rounds. If you’re willing to ignore the awfully small video format and the somewhat chunky controls, you’ll find this to be an enjoyable iteration of roulette. If you’re on the fence, claim a bonus and try it out.

While baccarat still might be the core of Sunbet’s offer, we prefer the poker section. Overall, there are three different variants you can enjoy. Honestly, even would be surprising, but this provider exceeded our expectations (at least when it comes to poker). 3 Card Poker is an excellent game if you like fast hands and quick wins. It’s popular in many land-based casinos, especially in Macau. If you’re more of a fan of Casino Hold’em, this might be a bit of a shock, but you’ll easily get used to it. It packs the punch, despite all the technical problems we’ve mentioned elsewhere in this review. Pai Gow Poker and Head to Head Poker are interesting choices. They have a distinct Asian influence, even though the base versions of poker aren’t such a big deal in this region. Simple rules and lots of side bet options give you a nice window of opportunity to score wins and have fun at the same time.

Devices and Platforms Supported by Sunbet

Sunbet games are available on most contemporary platforms. Unfortunately, Windows Mobile devices aren’t included. This makes sense, as Microsoft discontinued its line of smartphones in early 2017. Adapting their software to this outdated OS sometimes causes problems for developers, so we completely understand their decision. Nevertheless, you can still get the full Sunbet experience on your PC or smartphone. All the games are built using HTML5, so you can run them on your device’s browser, even if it runs an older OS. The mobile UI can get a little crowded, especially with the small format of the video that’s streamed. Tablets are an option, too.

This provider is compatible with the following mobile devices:

Top Casinos With Sunbet Games

Now that you know everything about Sunbet and its portfolio, it’s time to focus on the value. Sometimes, it’s risky to immediately play at a new table and wager your own money. While many players hate to admit it, even a slightly different version of your favorite game takes some time to get used to it. That’s where a casino bonus comes in handy. Basically, you get free cash and an opportunity to explore what Sunbet has to offer. With that in mind, we claimed some of the best deals and made a list of the best Sunbet bonuses available online. Rest assured, all the promotions are legitimate, fair, and make a difference.

Our Summary – Sunbet Live Casino Game Provider

The best way to describe Sunbet would be as a ‘mixed bag.’ Seriously, they are one of the most polarizing game providers we’ve reviewed. From a purely aesthetic point of view, they have lots of things that need fixing.

First of all, what’s up with that studio? It’s like they rented some office space, crammed their entire staff in, and told them to make it work. The modern gambler doesn’t want wires laid out on the floor, bad video quality, and an overall chaotic environment. Sunbet most definitely falls short, as their recording facilities just don’t give you that premium land-based casino feel.

On the other hand, you have the opportunity to play some amazing poker games, which almost no Asian provider dares to do. Also, this is the first time we’ve seen Live Mahjong in the wild. The UIs may be a bit chunky, but they’re easy to use and are a great learning tool for novice players. It’s things like this that cause us to retain hope in Sunbet’s eventual improvement.

They have the right idea and the right approach but lack the tools to make a great product. Should you play their games? Most definitely, you’ll have some fun. Just be mindful of the drawbacks, that’s all.
